The web is a great tool for trouble-shooting and helpful
hints about technical issues. But, for now, nothing beats
the library for in-depth research. That’s why my planning
and resource gathering frequently entails a trip to the
stacks. Here are a couple of case studies projects where
library research really paid off for my clients.
Blister Microscope
wants to send a letter to museums that may want to sell
the microscope. One trip to the Hennepin County Library
turned up the "Official Museum Directory" with
listings of all museums in the country along with contact
information and if they have a shop it shows the name of
the shop manager. This information is not available on the
web. Sometimes you've got to dig a little.
Gensan USA imports
energy drinks and bars from a top Italian nutritionals company.
My client wanted a site that showed the very high quality
of the product and also portrayed it's European origin.
At the library I found magazines and books that gave me
some great ideas that helped me meet my clients needs. The
final site is very clean and simple with a very large athletic
photo at the top of each page and plenty of white space
with san serif type. This looks shows the quality of the
product as well as a European flair.
