Web marketing
Increasing traffic to your site is great. Increasing the
visitors actually interested in what you're selling is much
better.
Search Engine Optimization
SEO is the strategic use of key phrases that people are
likely to search when they are looking for what you are
selling. The goal of SEO is to improve the ranking of your
site for Google and others.
Key Phrase Research
Selecting key phrases that people are actually searching
is the critical first step in SEO. This is not a guessing
game, and I have tools that will tell us if more people
are searching"Big old widgets" or "Custom
widget manufacturing". Research for Tom Foley Photography
showed many people searched "Minneapolis Photographer"
which was no surprise but we also learned others searched
"Minneapolis Photographers" and "Photographers
in Minneapolis" some other expressions that people
searched were "Minneapolis model photographers"
and Minneapolis portrait photographers". Knowing this
allowed us to target many more key phrases and increase
the potential of drawing interested clients.
Web page optimization
Strategic use of all relevant key phrases in the text, codes,
links, and image tags within your site. After selecting
key phrases I will edit separate web pages to target each
key phrase. You may be involved in the creation of text
because increasing the quantity of relevant content is a
primary way to drive traffic to your site.
Link Campaign
Increasing the number of links from other sites to your
site is the best way to improve the ranking of your site.
Hundreds of directories exist across the web that welcome
the requests for linking to your site. Directories are great,
but even better are links from sites dealing with topics
that are related to yours. If you are selling bicycle hats
it would be great to have links from any site dealing with
bicycles (or hats). I will work like a dog submitting requests
to many, many sites requesting links to your site. Link
exchanges is a final strategy which can be very effective
but require considerable care because you need to verify
the partner sites are reciprocating.
Non-web marketing
Driving traffic to your site and business to your company
using non-web means. Often non-web techniques make sense
for marketing your business and can take many forms including
something as simple as having your url printed on your business
cards to press releases and submitting stories to publications
expounding your expertise. Even running a contest on your
site.
